There are indeed many ways to tackle the redistribution problem. Wealth taxes are traditionally one of them, but they carry that kind of “State socialism” smell in some part of the English-speaking world that wouldn’t make their implementation welcome.
Charity would be another way, an “inequality fund” would be probably a solution that would be even more specific for the problem. I personally don’t mind of which instrument is eventually implemented where, as long as it’s effective, relatively popular for the majority of voters, and as long as it moved excessive wealth from those who own too much to those who own too little.
